Happy Turkey Day

Happy Turkey Day everyone! Mine went very well. I am at home with my parents. We had much good food. I am not going to post pictures because of two reasons. I'm on my dad's laptop and ok no thats not the excuse. I'm lazy. OOO alright, fine fine, but don't say I never did anything for you guys. I give you.... Special free costume for Little Big Planet this week. The magical mysterious turkey head! Ok so after some extensive (lazy) searching through google images couldn't find it.. Soooo I'm watching this show on hrrmmm eyeball.... CBS!!! it's callllllled "The Eleventh Hour" and here's a picture! (PS- you guys are so lucky, i had to go back and download this and upload it, because it had been blocked for hotlinking it. So i am taking away my lazy card until further notice!)

It's pretty good. It's almost like Bones reversed. The girl is tough as nails top level body guard, and the guy is a scientist who is assigned to investigate crimes of scientific nature. The series plays a little more serious then Bones, but I still recommend watching an episode or two.

Watched the first two Transporter movies, prepping my parents to go see the new third one for a saturday matinee show. I know i know! Many of you are saying what!? You werent in the theater to see Jason's new movie at first possible chance? Well I am going with a several other people to make Jason more money so hopefully he will forgive me. Not much else new. Will be leaving Valpo probably sometime Sunday early afternoon. Hope everyone is enjoying break. Take care.

Yay!

Well this was a nice calming weekend, before I have to go back for one brutal class before I get to skip away happily home. Friday was a pretty quiet night. Stayed in, played some video games with Zosso online. The 8 player cooperative in Resistance 2 is pretty amazing, and the 60 match competitive is also enthralling considering in the past, most maps have had a limit of 30-40 tops.

Yesterday (Saturday) I took a friend out to breakfast/lunch at IHOPS for their birthday. Also I did some homework and in the evening I went to the belly dancing show to see a friend who was performing.. I went with a good friend of mine and unexpectedly ran into other good friends! It was a grand time! Also being reminiscent of last year's show where I played the sultan I found this youtube clip... I can never run for president..... or sultan..

After the show went to Love Shack for a calzone with my friend and then we went back to his apartment and watched Star Trek Nemesis. Interesting end to Next Generation. It's a very nature vs nurture type of movie. Enough humor and action like the Star Trek movies. Interested to see the new movie. Here's the trailer link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmJO3ppLBsk

Today is just a mix of homework, eating, and packing. Let the games begin!

Friday!

How much you think all that food weighs? If you guessed about 1293 pounds of food your a pretty good guesser. Guess who got to help move it from the Telefund basement in Harrison hall, to a van, to Stewart Center, and then into a truck parked outside Stewart center? Thats right! Me! The Telefund has been participating in the food drive for last couple weeks and that corner of our basement office has been getting more and more crammed with food. Few days back my boss asked me to box up allot of the random goods. And then we got more. Today was time to deliver it. What helped with this amazing accomplishment was that the callers were offered a paid minute of work for each individual item they brought in. This included Ramen packets and Koolaid packets. Callers have 4 hour shifts. You bring in 240 items, you get a free shift. With koolade and ramen, this is actually price efficient. (Specially if you are buying from Aldi's or non brandname) (Yes there is generic brand ramen. I was amazed) This was allot of fun taking it to the truck, where they told my boss and I that it was the most they had recieved thus far.

Apparently my good citizen level is through the roof. Getting food out to hungry? Check. Yesterday, donating blood? Check. I highly encourage everyone to donate if you can. IT SAVES LIVES! It's always allot of fun for me. Go, get stuck, lay in relaxing chair for a bit, bop my knee to the music they playing, get unstuck, bandaged and free food and drink. I got a nice tshirt too! My favorite predonating question is when they ask to see both your arms up to your elbows. I swear I'm not a heroin addict, see! No needle marks! Yay for me! Well.. Now I have one needle mark. But that's from donating blood. The American Red Cross was here exactly 2 months ago to the day and when I gave asked if I would give again in two months. I said sure. Well man did they ever mean it. Three phone calls later thanking me for my donation and reminding me of when they would be here again, I was sure not to forget the date. No side effects or weakness. In the past I've felt maybe a lil tired or (drained... haha!) but it seems like I am giving so regularly now that my body is getting used to it.

So main points of today's post, donate to hungry if you can, donate blood to people bleeding if you can, and my good citizen level is currently through the roof. Now if I could just save some poor puppies or something.

Wish me luck

Well I just finished up my lesson that I am going to teach in an hour. My Purdue professor suggested using fly swatters to have the kids "swat" words that are placed on note cards on the table to help them with their scanning and identifying skills. Allot of fun but this could get out of hand. I'm a bit nervous but I will let you know how it goes. Either splendidly or maybe a bit hectic.

It took me forever to find these in Walmart last night. I was browsing around the house good aisles, when a manager walked by and pointed me in the direction of aisle 10 in groceries. Alright, so I walk to the other side of the store and find aisle 10. The end of the aisle contains all types of bug and mouse traps, sprays and such, but I can not find fly swatters. I look an aisle over on each side nothing... I am pacing through aisle 10 somewhat nervously. It's one of those feelings where you know your in the right spot, but your torn between not knowing if it's just not there, or if you are blindly walking by it. Finally I decide to go back over to housewares and look around there some more. I get over to sporting goods and man behind the counter asks if I need help. I tell him I'm looking for fly swatters and he says aisle 10. I said I couldn't find them. Well he comes out from behind the counter, in an electric wheelchair and says he will take me himself. I feel kind of bad inconveniencing him, specially since before I came I think he was talking to a son in law and granddaughter or some mix of family, but at least he wasn't having to walk on his hands or drag himself across the floor of the store. So he kicks his wheelchair into top gear and we head back over there. He mentions that's two things he never likes to tell people, that mice traps and fly swatters are in groceries. We get there and he says they should be on the very top at the end of the aisle. He says they must have moved them or that they stopped selling them maybe because it was a seasonal item. We look and look but nothing. We are about to give up, when he suddenly see's them on the bottom shelf at the other end of the bug goods. He makes the comment on how isn't that like Walmart, to move an item from up there to way down there. He was very helpful and now I have these fly swatters. I just hope the children don't plan a coup detat agaianst me when I arm them with these.

Finally got around to watching some of the Devil May Cry anime last night, I've had them forever, but never got around to it before. They were very good. Nice art style, even commendable English voice acting. It's pretty funny since I think it almost focuses more on the human side of Dante and how he interacts with people on a day to day basis and explains his lifestyle. I can't quite figure out where he is suppose to live and during what time. It seems like maybe New York in the 50's but is likely more to be current day.

My convoy to Valpo will likely leave Lafayette Tuesday around noon. I am transporting one other individual and should arrive home in time to welcome the parents home from work. Excited for turkey day. Going to eat! And I'm going to do my laundry for free! Life doesn't get much better then that!

New evil powers found!

So it turns out that my new evil power is eating other people's subway sandwiches. I went into subway to grab some lunch. Now anyone who has gone to Subway with me allot knows that I stick with the seafood and crab. Well today I decided to be daring and add provolone cheese to the mix! However the fates were not satisfied and decided I needed to be removed even more so from my comfort zone. There was a couple in front of me and somehow my sandwich landed in front of his. I let him pay first since he was in line first (next part is all hindsight and was not realized at the time)

He grabbed my sandwich which was first thinking it was his. When he finished paying, they pushed his sandwich up next, he went to grab it. His girlfriend said, "you got two?" to which he said, oh, no. And he put it back down and they left. I paid and went to the back of the store to eat. Soon as I unwrapped it I was like Huh... why is this warm? I figured the bread had just come out of the oven so I bit into it. This was not seafood and crab. Oh well, the couple had left the store and since I am not a picky eater, I ate it. As I was leaving, walking past front of the store, I noticed the guy had returned my sandwich in hand, and they were remaking his order. I slipped out unnoticed to see his girlfriend waiting in the car and let me tell you, she looked pissed.

So I guess I should have said this first, but wala, names David and welcome to my new blog. I will be writing on here occasionally. I will try to make it rather frequent, but being so busy, no promises!

So I begged kyle to help me with a personal project which started with me wanting to boycott Square Enix the video game company. They started making exclusive games for the Xbox 360 leaving PS3 users like myself out in the cold. I figured, create a website, get a petition going, try and cause some change. He suggested broadening the scope and focusing on ending console exclusives completely. Hence, we will have our site soon enough. We are not aiming at the in house brands such as Halo, Mario, or Little Big Planet, these are made by the mother companies, and will never be released outside their own systems, but games like Last Remnant and Metal Gear Solid 4 should be able to go multiplatform. It should be an interesting project and I will keep you updated on how it goes.

I am getting excited to go home for Thanksgiving break and see family. It will be good to be home with everyone. This semester is going well if not a little unusual for sleeping habits. Anyways, time for class, wish me luck!

PS I have not learned how to indent on here apparently! If you know the secret to this magic, drop me a line.
